About Ed Webb-Ingall

Before producing moving image work I produced fashion shoots around the world for commercial and editorial clients including ARENA, Dazed and Confused, Details, The Face, The Darkness, The Observer, Kerrang and Grazia magazine …

In 2006 I produced my first film for a graduating student from the national theatre school. Subsequently I was asked to be production manager and researcher on a documentary about Joy Division, written by Jon Savage and directed by Grant Gee. What was supposed to be 3 months turned into almost 3 years working at Brown Owl Films during which time I produced a film about climate change in Australia for Al Gore’s LiveEarth project, a music video for Icelandic band Jakobinarina as well as a number of Live Concert shoots. JOY DIVISION premiered at Toronto International Film Festival where it was picked up by Harvey Weinstein and I got a special mention in Variety Magazine for my researching; “Along with Savage, researcher Ed Webb-Ingall pulls together an amazing assemblage of ultra-rare audio and visual clips.” It went on to win a number of awards at national and international festivals. I have continued to production manage and research on a freelance basis, focusing on small budget documentary and artists’ films. I have also started to shoot and edit my own films. In 2009 I was awarded some money to make a film about, for and by the children of lesbian and gay parents, RAISING HELL, which has now been shown around the world in galleries, classrooms, cinemas and conferences. In 2010 I production managed a documentary about W. G. Sebald and I spent my summer at Maysles Films in New York. I am currently studying a masters in the history of film at birkbeck in London and continue to produce, shoot and edit. Most recently I completed a film about men with long hair and have been working on a series of short films about drawing for the University of the Arts London as well as being film maker in residence at South London Gallery on the MOVE:Together project.
